Why is grass-fed beef more nutritious than conventional, grain-fed beef?
Cattle by nature are herbivores. They were created to graze and glean their nourishment from plants, especially grasses. When cattle are fed grain, in a sense they are being fed processed food, junk food. They grow quickly on grain, and they gain weight fast, which is why most cattle are fed grain - it’s cheap and it’s fast. But cattle fed grain get sick. Their digestive systems don’t handle grain as well, so they require antibiotics to keep them healthy enough to survive until they have put on enough weight to profitably harvest them. And because they are no longer eating plants, their balance of Omega 3:6 fatty acids flips from healthy and beneficial to humans to unhealthy for human consumption.
It takes a bit longer to grow cattle to ideal weight on pasture, but we think it’s worth the wait! The meat quality from grazing pasture, its superior nutrition is worth every bit of extra effort.
We use rotational grazing, moving our herd to new pasture every day to maximise the benefit of cyclical grazing to the pastures and to our cattle, allowing for a healthy and diverse selection of plants to grow and thrive, and giving our herd the highest nutrition our land has to offer.
Give our meat a try, and we think you will agree that it is hard to beat!
We never use pesticides, antibiotics, added growth hormones, GMOs, or animal mRNA vaccines.
